Bruschetta

Bruschetta with tomatoes is a classic of Italian cuisine and impresses with its simplicity and fresh taste. This delicious starter is perfect for summer evenings, as a light snack or as part of a Mediterranean buffet. With aromatic tomatoes, fresh basil and crispy bread, bruschetta is always a delight and can be prepared in just a few minutes.

Vorbereitung 10 minutes Zubereitung 10 minutes
  • 4 medium sized ripe tomatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 handful of fresh basil
  • 4-5 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette or ciabatta
  • Balsamic cream

Preparation

  1. Wash the tomatoes, remove the stalk and cut into small cubes. Place the diced tomatoes in a bowl.
  2. Peel and finely chop the garlic clove or press through a garlic press. Add to the tomatoes.
  3. Wash the basil, shake dry and cut into fine strips. Also add to the tomatoes.
  4. Pour the olive oil over the tomato mixture, season with salt and pepper and mix well. Leave the tomato mixture to stand for approx. 10 minutes.
  5. In the meantime, slice the baguette or ciabatta and lightly brush both sides with olive oil.
  6. Toast the slices of bread in a pan, on the grill or in the oven until golden brown.
  7. Spread the tomato mixture on the toasted slices of bread. Drizzle with balsamic cream to taste and serve immediately.
